February 23 Imagine meYet another post in the same week! Can you tell that I am free this week?
Anyhow, there is this song I would like to share with everybody. We were introduced to it by a good friend of ours, Zuleima.
The first time I heard his song, it brought me to tears. Just listen to the lyrics, it speaks to your soul. more songs should be like this one. Somehow bringing in the factor of money always manages to screw things up.
The song is called imagine me by mr Kirk Franklin, God bless him. Here goes
February 21 ThankfulNow now. I just cannot take the time to post about games and not post a thankful note. I try to post a thankful note very month but haven't been able to keep it up every month. Either being busy in some way or another or simply not knowing what I was significantly more thankful for the last month. But anyways, no more excuses, here goes.
The first people that always pop into my head when I sit down to write these thankful notes, are my parents and my girlfriend. I wouldn't be able to do what I am doing today without them. I know it sounds cliche, but for me, it's true. So big up to them first and to god ofcourse, but that's a given. (for me at least)
I would like to sent this one into the world as dedicated to EVERYBODY that supports us. From internationally acclaimed teachers (all two of em that verbalised it :P) to the people that get excited by the prospect of dancing and our way of teaching. We promise we will try to continue to evolve.
This is for those that come in with an attittudelike: this better not suck as bad as I think it will, and then go to coming half an hour early to catch the previous class as well. As well as for those that are so nervous in class that they forget everything and want to stop at every mistake, and then go to being the one that always asks when the next party is.
Thank you, I am truelly grateful.....
Gaming!!Hello World! It's been long, too long actually. Well, as usual, been busy, but as for this week: It's carnaval over here! What does that mean? Well for the normal folk, it means they will be dressing up silly, acting even sillier and getting drunk to a certain kind of music. I wanted to make a post on how Carnavalin the Carribean is centered around dance (and alcohol ofcourse but over here, dance is waaay down on the priority list. But I wanted to make a point with a video, but Idon't feel like ripping an entire dvd for just 1 section,...too much work. But, to me, carnaval means that I am free and that I can do whatever the hell I want! So, I've been quite busy these last few days. I can now play Guitar hero on hard! Both part and part 2. Yes, I can hit the infamous orange button at reasonable speed. Don't know what I am talking about? That's what youtube is for. Here is a little vid.
They have also announced a Guitar Hero for the xbox and I am actually considering it. The combination of wireless guitars, achievements, downloadable songs and new songs straight out of the box is really tempting. Friends have already offered to buy the old Guitar hero for the PS2. Shall I? I also fired up Ratchet & Clank for the PS2 and that game is strangely addicting. Finishing up on Mario & Luigi: partners in time on the ds. I have discovered that I have a weakness for sprite-based games, probably nostalgia. No polygon games get me as riled up as when they announce a new sprite-game. I guess I like sprite-based game because I gew up when sprites went from this Too bad they botched up the new children of mana for the DS though. Another legendary franchise down the drain.
But as for this week off, Ihave devoted myself to levelling my World of Warcraft charaacters. Since I was lucky enough to acquire a collectors edition of the Burning Crusade, I haven't had time to play at all. After a month or so, I was still stuck at level 61 with Basora, my main Character. I did try out the new races as you can see from the screenshots above. Shailindra, a female Dreanai (level 16) , who is to become a restoration shaman. Surdari, a Bloodelf Paladin (level 26) on the new server in the gamer.nl guild: Passionate Affliction. He is a defensive paladin and from what I can tell now, they solo better than defensive warriors. And of course: Basora, member of the great Dutch guild: Infinity. I played her from this sunday till about half an hour ago and levelled from halfway through level 61 to halfway to level 65. Dual Wielding rocks! She swings like a madman, or madwoman that is. Some guy managed to reach level 70 in just 48 hours, with the help of his guild ofcourse. (and lotsa coffee) And there are people that have started a new character and are now level 70 already. Now that I am free, Ishould be able to make it to evel 70 by the end of the week right? RIGHT? We'll see....
Blizzard has released a kickass expension once again. Every time they succeed in creating such a great world...just astonishing. Imagine, riding through a dark and hostile forest and then suddenly this scene pops up.
A city in the middle of the jungle. It doesn't evne do the game justice, I guess you had to be there I guess. So, I gues I have finally been catching up to some gaming. Played Burnout: Revenge on the Xbox 360 for a bit too, that game looks awesome. They told me it would, but it still blew me away. Jacquie and Gildward were kind enough to lend me there copy of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. Awesome game and a bucket of laughs, highly recommended. So this week is officially: Gaming Week!! Wish me luck. But...... there is always a but, I miss dancing a bunch, even though it's only been a week. That is a passion that is much more deeply rooted than games. Eat, Breath, Sleep & Dance! oh and game in your free time too. ;) February 12 Castlevania WannabeMan,
I haven't posted in a while. It's been quite busy. Actually it's so busy that I actually don't even have time to do this right now, as I should be working right now. But I took a small break while working, and came across a God of War 2 preview (raaah, must have, need, want....)
And something dawned on me. This is what Castlevania in 3d should have been! The Castlevanias in 3d or ok, a little above average, but God of War kicks ass! I mean take a look at the video, and imagine the hero is a Belmont from castlevania and all the monsters are undead/vampires/zombies, and you have what Castlevania in 3d should have been.
Oh well,Symphony of the Night is being rereleased, so it's back to Castlevania at it's best, in 2d. Just try the ps1 version, the upcoming psp & xbox360 versions, or any gba & ds version. T
February 01 Getting OldTop of the mornign to ya!
Yup, the title...getting old. I believe I am getting old. And there is a couple of things giving it away, besides the receding hairline that is. First off, I think the music nowadays is going to hell. I was pulling an all-nighter playing WoW (which was SWEET bevause I don't get to do that anymore) and the tv channel was stuck on the music channel. And I truelly believe that all music nowadays is crap. And I found myself thinking, the music in the old days was better, at least they had something to say. If that isn't "getting old talk" I don't know what the hell is.
Even in salsa. They say that people that have been actively dancing for a while, switch to New york Style dancing after a while and also develop a taste for the music that is part of that style of dancing. The so-called mambos. These mambos are almost all pretty old songs, but I swear, the salsa songs that are released nowadays don't even come near the great mambos of the old days. Except marc Anthony, he released a good salsa-cd recently. The rest I personally think is crap. There it is again...getting old talk.
Even videogames and the videogames culture..it's not what it used to be. It used to be about friends getting together and playing an afternoon/evening of games till the early morning. Now it's about some stranger cussing the hell out of you, thousands of miles away. Innovation in gams is few and far between, when back in the day there was always something new that got you excited. Now it's part 4, part 5, spin-off here and there. Not that they are bad games, but it's just not what it used to be. People buying games and guides at the same time and plowing through them in a couple days...sigh
Here comes the getting old talk again:
Back in the day if you were stuck in say Zelda, you would be stuck for days at a time. No internet, but constantly looking for solutions and consulting friends. No guide, no faq, but just going through the game. Games would be playde for longer periods of time and people would get real good at those specific games too. Nowadays people move on in a matter of days. Hell people don't like the likes of Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry because they are so hard. Believe me, if you take the time and sit throught the game to develop your skills, you will remember the accomplishments for years to come. I myself beat all 3 ninja gaidens on the nes........
....aah the good old days
Yup, I am getting old and you know what sucks about getting old? I gotta pay everything myself
Sometimes, getting old sucks, but, I am enjoying the ride, and I guess that's what counts. With Mautje by my side, I can accomplish anything.
Watch out world, grandpa Flep is coming to conquer you! muhahahahahahah.... |
